In 1917, Gerardus Petrus Groot started his own company. GP Groot has grown into a company with more than 1,000 employees. The company now comprises three umbrella business units: infrastructure and engineering, collection and recycling, and fuels and oil trading.

"'Keep it simple'. That is a basic principle in our operations and you can see that reflected at Normec NCK. No grandstanding or arrogance. Nor a personal interpretation of a standards paragraph that is then explained in detail. Just basic: if it complies, then it is good. Moreover, you notice that the auditors can level with the customer. Whether they are assessing the quality system of a multinational or a one-man company. I also like how quickly they can respond. It once happened that after a positively completed audit we needed the certificate within 24 hours. They don't turn their hand to that at Normec NCK. It just gets taken care of."
