The clock is ticking for the flex market: anyone who hasn’t started with the Wtta yet is falling behind

Starting in January 2027, the flex market will undergo radical changes. All companies in the Netherlands that hire out or borrow workers will then be subject to a new licensing system that extends far beyond traditional staffing agencies. Yet many organizations still believe that the Act on the Authorization for the Provision of Workers (Wtta) does not affect them, or that there is still plenty of time. That line of thinking is dangerous. Especially in combination with the recently enacted Act on Greater Security for Flexible Workers, a tipping point is emerging: organizations need to know now whether they fall under the Wtta, what obligations they will face, and how they can get their processes in order in a timely manner. Those who wait until the law actually takes effect run the risk of having to rush to fix—under significant time pressure—what should have been put in place today.

ISO 27001 certification is not the same as NIS2 compliance

Moniek Steegers has been working at Normec Certification Institute (NCI) for over two years as an ISO auditor for ISO 27001 and ISO 9001. Prior to that, she worked at KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers as an IT auditor and consultant, as well as a compliance and information risk officer at NXP and Canon. Given her background, she understands well why ISO 27001 certification is an appropriate way for organizations to have their information security management systems independently assessed. However, it is not necessarily sufficient to also comply with the European NIS 2 Directive, for which Dutch legislation will soon apply as well, as she explains in this interview.

VCA-MAX Recognized by ViA: What Does This Mean for Your Organization?

Starting July 1, 2026, an important change will take effect for many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the construction, infrastructure, engineering, and industrial sectors. Starting then, VCA-MAX will be recognized as supplementary evidence of safety culture within the updated Safety in Procurement Guidelines (ViA). For organizations with up to 250 employees, this offers new opportunities to meet the requirements related to safety culture. But what exactly is changing? For which organizations is this relevant?
