Slokker Bouwgroep has been a Normec NCK customer since 2015 and is certified for: VCA*, VCA**, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Founded in 1935 and based in the Netherlands, Canada and the United States, Slokker Groep has been active in the real estate market for over 85 years. As a developer, builder and investor or any combination thereof. A 100% family business with the third generation at the helm. Innovation has run like a thread through the company for decades.

Own responsibility certifications

Each Slokker branch bears responsibility for its own certifications. Normec NCK then looks very nicely at which auditor best suits the branch for which an audit is scheduled at that time. Incidentally, it is typical of Slokker that we prefer to be firmly audited. Yes, a certificate is important in order to be selected for certain assignments, but for us it is mainly about the learning process. Do we still have our process quality, working conditions and environmental aspects in order and how can we do even better?

This process shows how important it is for an auditor to have practical experience. I myself am originally a construction and safety expert, so I have a lot of practical experience and knowledge about the standards. But the auditors of Normec NCK visit so many different companies, that everything they notice at our company - and I am not even referring to deviations - I see as a learning opportunity. And therein lies for me the added value of an audit.

In the spirit of the standard

Another advantage of this practical experience is that the auditors no longer have to make the business process their own, so there is more depth in the audit. In addition, they assess processes not sec on the basis of the checklist, but much more in the spirit of the standard. Simply because they understand daily practice and know what matters.

As Slokker, we want to deliver a product that not only meets customer requirements, but also complies with laws and regulations. We want to protect our employees and everyone who moves around the construction site, as well as the environment. This need is intrinsic and is not additionally triggered by a standard or certification. Yet, signaling to the outside world that an outside body rates our way of working as good is perhaps more important today than ever."
