A renewed step in safe and aware working
On September 18, 2025, the Stichting Samenwerken Voor Veiligheid (SSVV) officially launched VCA-MAX: a renewed step in safe and aware working. This new scheme combines the familiar VCA certificate with the VCA Module Behavior (VCA-MG), so the focus is no longer just on rules and systems, but also on attitude, awareness and behavior.
From rules to behavior: a clear industry need
For years,the SCC system has been a widely recognized and often mandatory certification method in the Netherlands and abroad. Yet the call for an addition sounded ever louder: a method in which not only systems and procedures are central, but also the way in which people actually act safely and consciously deal with risks. Moreover, since Jan. 1, 2022, safety awareness has been a mandatory requirement in many tenders and contracts.
VCA-MAX was developed in response to this demand. It combines the existing SCC certificate (SCC*, SCC**, or SCC-P) with the SCC Behavior Module. Whereas the traditional SCC system provides structure and clear requirements, SCC-MAX focuses on demonstrable safe behavior and an embedded safety culture. Organizations that opt for SCC-MAX show that safety within their company is not only regulated, but also really lived.
