Assurance about origin and environmental quality of sand
BRL 9313 is the assessment guideline for sand from dynamic extraction areas. These are areas that are part of, or in open connection with, waterways. The guideline also offers the possibility to combine sand from different certificates and deliver it under one own certificate.
Within BRL 9313 the environmental-hygienic quality of the sand is tested against the background values for soil. The corresponding quality declaration is issued as an NL BSB® product certificate.
How does certification under BRL 9313 work?
BRL 9313 certification focuses on demonstrating the origin, quality and security of supply of sand. During the process it is assessed whether the sand meets the environmental requirements and whether the administrative processes have been set up correctly.
The certificate and delivery note provide official proof of origin and quality. This provides transparency towards clients, supervisors and chain partners.
The BRL 9313 has five levels
BRL 9313 distinguishes five levels that provide insight into the origin and quality of the sand:
- Level I: extraction of salt sand from maritime extraction areas
- Level II: salt sand delivered from a fixed storage location
- Level III: desalinated sand
- Level IV: fresh or desalinated sand delivered from a fixed storage site
- Level V: extraction of fresh sand from non-marine extraction areas
