This is changing and these are the deadlines
The Dutch Security Industry has agreed to a completely updated version of the Security Hallmark. This new standard will take effect April 1, 2026, with a transition period until June 30, 2029.
In this article we, as a certifying body, clearly outline the most important changes compared to the current version, the relevant deadlines and the points of attention for your organization.
What has been renewed in terms of content and structure?
- One integral standards document and more predictability
All parts of the seal of approval - from admission and audit to certification decision - are brought together in one integral standards document. This promotes uniformity and predictability in audits and limits differences in interpretation.
- Tightened and new themes
The standard contains tightened and new requirements on topics including:
- quality and integrity
- personnel policy
- information security
- health and safety
aggression and violence
- Specific additions per work type
Additional requirements are explicitly defined for a number of work types, including:
- personal security
- store security
- port security
mobile surveillance
- Clear relationship with ISO standards
The renewed standard explicitly links up with existing ISO certifications:
- For ISO 9001, audit duration reduction can be applied under conditions.
ISO 27001 has an exemption for the information security part of the certification, provided that the scope and accreditation match.
- Interpretation document
There will be a binding interpretation document for uniform application of the standard. This document will be dynamically maintained by the Quality Promotion Advisory Board.
Deadlines and transitional arrangement
- Entry into force of new standard: April 1, 2026
- Initial audits according to version 2026 mandatory from: July 1, 2026
- Ultimate transition date: June 30, 2029
(by this date, every hallmark holder must be certified according to version 2026)
What does this mean for existing seal holders?
Plan the transition in line with your existing certification cycle.
Recertification after July 1, 2026 will be tested against the new standard.- Map any differences ("gaps") on new or tightened themes, such as aggression and violence, information security and outsourcing policy, in a timely manner.
- Leverage existing certifications (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001) where possible to reduce audit load or apply exemptions.
