We are proud to announce that Normec Certification Institute has achieved accreditation for version 4.0 of the CO₂-Performanceladder. This means that from now on we can certify organizations according to the latest version of this important sustainability standard.

The CO₂-Performanceladder is the instrument in the Netherlands to stimulate organizations to structurally reduce their CO₂ emissions. With version 4.0 the requirements have been further tightened and updated so that companies can contribute even better to the climate objectives.

Version 4.0 of the CO2 Performance Ladder brings quite a few changes compared to the previous version, 3.1. For example, the five levels of certification have been replaced by three steps and organizations are asked to be even more ambitious when it comes to reducing their own CO2 emissions (scope 1 and 2), their emissions in the chain (scope 3) and outside the value chain. In addition, parties should pay more attention to long-term ambitions and broader anchoring of CO2 reduction within the organization.

To give companies time to prepare for this new version, there is a transition period until Jan. 14, 2017. After that, no more audits can take place on 3.1 version.

Want to know what this new version entails and what it means for your organization? Our team is ready to inform and guide you in certification according to CO₂-Performanceladder 4.0.
