Inspection of IBC works according to AS 6902

Since 2015, all IBC works must demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the AS 6902 inspection protocol. IBC building materials include non-shaped building materials, such as AEC bottom ash and slag from waste-to-energy plants.

IBC building materials may only be used in works with isolation, management and control (IBC) measures. This means that these works must be periodically inspected and monitored to remain in compliance with laws and regulations. An inspection of IBC works ensures that your project meets the legal requirements and that risks to soil and groundwater are controlled.

Our approach

We carry out inspections according to the AS 6902 inspection protocol and work completely independently. In doing so, we look not only at the technical state of the work, but also at monitoring, management measures and legal obligations.

Together with our reliable partners, we ensure that groundwater levels are measured and analyzed in a timely manner. If necessary, we also take care of the legally required notifications to the soil quality reporting office. This ensures that everything is arranged correctly and on time.

Independent inspection of IBC works

We are an independent and accredited party for inspection of IBC works. In 2015, we were the first party in the Netherlands to receive accreditation (accreditation number I198) to perform these inspections. As a result, we have extensive experience and specialist knowledge.

What does this mean concretely for you?

  • You demonstrate compliance with laws and regulations (AS 6902)
  • You get an independent and expert inspection
  • Groundwater monitoring is arranged in a timely manner
  • Legal notifications are taken care of for you
  • You have a single point of contact for inspection and monitoring

Inspection of IBC works provides assurance that contamination remains controlled, prevents unexpected problems and helps to control costs, risks and responsibilities.

Ready for the future

Laws and regulations surrounding soil quality and building materials are becoming increasingly stringent. It is therefore important to properly organize inspection and monitoring of IBC works on a structural basis. By arranging this timely and professionally, you avoid risks, delays and possible sanctions. This way, your project will remain compliant, now and in the future.
