IHM Part-I maintenance according to EU SRR and Hong Kong Convention

According to the EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SRR) and the Hong Kong International Convention (HKC), the IHM Part-I must be maintained throughout the entire operational life of a ship.

This means that the IHM Part-I must be updated whenever hazardous materials (hazmat) are added to or removed from the ship. These changes must be supported with a Material Declaration (MD) and a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) from the supplier or with relevant removal documentation.

An up-to-date and properly maintained IHM Part-I ensures that inspections by PSC, classification societies and authorities run smoothly and without delays or risk of penalties.

Structured and digital approach

Maintaining an IHM Part-I can be complex and time-consuming. Consider tracking changes on board, collecting documentation and correctly interpreting regulations.

Normec Verifavia supports this process with a structured and digital approach. With our maintenance dashboard and expertise, we ensure that changes are registered on time, documentation is collected and reports are automatically updated.

Our approach includes, among other things:

  • Monitoring changes to ships structure, equipment, coatings and materials
  • Collecting Material Declarations and Supplier Declarations
  • Checking purchase orders within the IHM scope
  • Updating the IHM Part-I when changes occur
  • Periodic reporting for compliance and inspections

Smart solution for IHM Part-I maintenance

Normec Verifavia has developed an innovative 3-way Plug & Play IHM Maintenance Dashboard. This dashboard can easily be connected to your purchasing system or supplier portal via APIs and works together with Hazinvent-M, our IHM maintenance platform.

This gives shipowners, superintendents and vessels real-time insight into the maintenance status of the IHM Part-I at all times.

What does this deliver for you?

  • Less administrative burden and manual work
  • Faster preparation for PSC inspections
  • Less risk of fines or denial of access to EU ports
  • Automatic monthly IHM maintenance reports
